Diego Batista

Diego has worked in tax consulting and tax planning for almost 20 years.

He has extensive experience in taxation of transactions involving venture capital, mergers and acquisitions, national and international corporate reorganizations, international tax law, project finance, and cross-border transactions.

Diego also acts in administrative litigation, focused on direct taxes and other strategic discussions.

He acts in the tax and equity structuring of HNWIs.

Diego is an International Correspondent for the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation (IBFD) – Amsterdam/Netherlands.

Highlights

  • He took part in the tax structuring of the acquisition of a large cosmetics group by a Brazilian multinational company, a USD 2 billion transaction, awarded as “Deal of the Year” by the 15th edition of Latin Lawyer (2020).
  • He advised on the tax aspects of the business combination between two shopping center management giants, a transaction valued at R$7 billion.
  • He has taken part in several Venture Capital investment and disinvestment structures, in all stages of maturity, both on the side of the funds/investors and of the founders/angelists.
  • He assisted one of the largest real estate funds in the tax structuring of the acquisition of real estate properties of a publicly-traded real estate company, valued at R$1 billion at the time.
  • He took part in an extensive corporate restructuring involving international investments held by the Brazilian company of a multinational sugar and ethanol group.
  • He has defended several clients in the administrative sphere against tax assessment notices related to goodwill amortization, tax planning, and other strategic matters.
